When we are faced with the unknown, we cannot but be afraid. Before the great unknown, there is great fear. But before great fears we encounter an even greater God. This is Abraham, talking to Sarah, before they set off to an unknown land. Recall your own journey to the unknown. It could have happened already, or it could be happening right now. Say this prayer before the Great Unknown.

Today We Are Asked
by eric santillan

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country,
your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

2 “I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.[a]
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”[b][Gen 12: 1-3]

Today we are asked to put our lives in the hands of God.
Today we are asked to believe that while God is King and Creator,
He is also Friend and Healer
He is Guide
He is the Way:
The Way that leads to Life
Life to the Full.

Today we are asked to put our lives in the palms of Him who made the Universe.
Today we are asked to come before Him
With nothing but our naked selves
Not knowing what is in store for us
Only knowing that He is there waiting for us
Wherever THAT PLACE is.

Today we are asked to believe.
Today we are asked to trust.
Today we are asked to stay in His hands, in His palms, under His wings.
Today we are asked to take refuge in Him
Even if things do not make sense
Even if the places we go to
Or the lives we lead
Or the things we do
Do not make sense to people or family or friends.

Today we are asked to keep still
And know that He is God.
And that we are not.
That things are being taken care of,
That events are happening,
That the universe is conspiring
To place us where we are supposed to be
So we can live the life we are supposed to live.
